About

Teacher, reader, and lifelong student of languages

My teaching grew out of a long interest in language, literature, culture, and the way people learn to express difficult ideas.

More than fifteen years in the classroom and online.

I hold an MA in Comparative Literature and have taught English, writing, literature, and rhetoric in universities, community colleges, private high schools, and online.

My own experience learning and living with other languages has strongly shaped how I teach. I am interested not only in correctness, but in helping students become more precise, confident, and natural when they speak and write.

Teaching

15+ years across higher education, secondary education, and online instruction.

Language is connected to everything else.

Literature, classical music, history, travel, education, and cultural life often find their way into lessons and into the journal. That variety is intentional: advanced language develops when there is something meaningful to think and talk about.
